Timing: The Art Of The Sync

So, yesterday, after having a whinge at being silenced on X (I am now officially eX-Twitter), I started my binge of Mad Men season 7 and the very first scene of the first episode was a prime example of a encountering a synchronicity. Dear Reader, it was a sync…

… Interestingly enough, that sync was reinforced by the appearance of ‘Fourth Wall’ as an answer on the episode of Pointless that Thoughtful Man and I watched whilst eating tea this evening. We’ve a backlog and only just started watching series 34 from September. EX-newsreader, Angela Rippon is in Richard’s chair, which thinking about it now is also a sync – in the above clip, Freddie is sitting in a chair pitching on behalf of Donald Draper, whose real name is Dick – but I’ve been thinking about how Freddie is essentially breaking the fourth wall as he makes his pitch to camera. I know that Peggy and I, both members of the audience, said “Wow!” at the same time; however, hers was scripted and mine wasn’t.

Pointless has always been a very syncy tv show for me. I have written posts 😉 This evening, Thoughtful Man asked me I’d heard that the Louvre had been robbed during the first round of the show regarding the definitions of words to do with art and artistic terms. I hadn’t heard about the robbery but then I’d been watching Mad Men all afternoon and staying off of X…

So, French ‘crown jewels’ belonging to Napoleon were brazenly stolen from the Apollo room this morning because the Louvre is under reconstruction. That puts me in mind of Clicky’s post from this week about Trump the expert on construction and reconstruction and my post from the summer syncing Trump to Apollo.

Sidenote: One of the most unfortunately effects of short-sighted actions of X toward me has been to destroy my art. My tweets no longer display, defacing Clicky’s carefully constructed story collages. What can I say, he talks in clicks

And during my few viewings of my X feed, there have been a significant number of posts featuring Donald Trump and crowns. This one also features Times Square, famous for its huge advertisements…

Whilst on X I listened to a couple of podcasts with top quality analysis of what’s actually going on and they are well worth investing some time to listen to. Conversation pieces chaired by Crypto Rich. I have no idea if his name is ‘Rich’, a shortening of Richard but the other shortening of that name is ‘Dick’…

Finally, the last episode of Mad Men that I watched early this morning, before turning in for bed, featured both Napoleon and Apollo, and to my mind, Dear Reader, that is quite the fucking sync…

Spoiler alert: Both Dons – Trump and Draper – both ‘come back from leave’ and win their battles.

I have the last two episodes to watch tonight. It’s a great TV series. I shall miss the excessive smoking, drinking, bonking and advertising, the artform of the 20th century according to Marshall McLuhan. I also have to iron, so I’ll end this post here and leave you with a Song…
