Sorted for “e”? Whisky. The Scots are a canny lot. Every letter in that word affects the pronunciation. Are you paying attention all those who pronounce Wales and whales the same way. So why have a superfluous “e” when a few bawbees can be saved on the ink by omitting the useless “e”.
