1. I once stayed in the best hotel in Islamabad. From the roof you could see an apparent jungle – really the trees around the hotel ensuring separation from the rest of humanity.
   Later this roof was the setting for BBC Afghan war correspondents pieces. The camera angle did not show the flat roof parapet, just the trees.
   I found out that this hotel would bring excellent locally made bottles of whisky and beer to your room if you showed your passport and signed a big book witnessing that you were not a follower of Islam.
