   The reason for the appearance of the Straw Dog became clear shortly afterwards. It is very distressing and deeply unpleasant and unbelievable in its cruelty. Staring into the abyss sometimes is not a bundle of laughs.

2. The darker aspects of the ‘patriarchy’ are clear to see once you start digging. What is not so apparent is the female version and can be just as nasty and how she uses flying monkeys or her henchmen to do her bidding. She doesn’t like the fairest of them all and a woman scorned can hold onto her bitterness for a long time.

   The universe is using the Quantum Shade and Ashildr in Dr Who and the evil witch in Narnia as examples. See Oz as well.
