Missive From ‘Merica: Gentle Man…

Dear Reader, I received an unexpected missive from ‘Merica yesterday evening. Not from my very good friend Cade Fon Apollyon, but from his ex-wife, letting me know that he’d passed away in his sleep during the early hours of yesterday morning. She doesn’t yet know why he died but a heart-attack is suspected. All I know for certain is that my heart is broken…

  1. There is a pain—so utter—
    It swallows substance up—
Then covers the Abyss with Trance—
    So Memory can step
    Around—across—upon it—
    As one within a Swoon—
    Goes safely—where an open eye—
    Would drop Him—Bone by Bone.

  2. Really sorry to hear that. I used to enjoy talking to Cade.
He wanted to come over here to visit some places personal to him and we discussed meeting for a beer in Blackpool.
I would’ve liked that. He was one of the good guys

    1. He really was, Bucko. I know he was working out how to fit Southend, Aberdeenshire and Blackpool into a trip to the UK next year.

      1. Yes, it sounded like a really long trip, top to bottom of the country. We picked Blackpool for a beer as it’s only 45 mins from me. He said he wanted to visit there because they have an old wooden rollercoaster. I’ve not heard of that before, but you wouldn’t get me on a rollercoaster anyway. Too much of a wuss.
I told him Blackpool is a bit of a shithole these days, but that just made him want to go more 🙂

  3. I want to let all of you know how much your kind words mean to me, “Cade’s” younger sister from Merica. He spoke so highly of this community and loved working with so many talented and kind humans. Angel-A
