I’d been thinking about writing again on The Fourth Turning when Thoughtful Man sent me a video yesterday morning via Arse-about-Face Book. It showed one Millennial dissecting the views of another…
The Millennial Generation (Hero, born 1982–2004) first arrived amid “Babies on Board” signs, when abortion and divorce rates ebbed, the popular culture recast babies as special, and hands-off parental styles were replaced by Lamaze and attachment-parenting obsessiveness. Child abuse and child safety became hot topics, while books teaching virtues, values, and team-playing citizenship became best-sellers.
Perhaps that explains…
signal (n.) late 14c., “visible sign, indication,” from Old French signal, seignal “seal, imprint, sign, mark,” from Medieval Latin signale “a signal,” from Late Latin signalis (adj.) “used as a signal, pertaining to a sign,” from Latin signum “identifying mark, sign” (see sign (n.)). Restricted sense “agreed-upon sign” (to commence or desist, etc.) is from 1590s. Meaning “modulation of an electric current” is from 1855.
When I think of the previous Hero generation (born 1901 – 1924) that came of age during the last Fourth/Winter/Crisis Turning (1929 – 1945)…
*Hmm… anything on ‘values from 80 years ago, Clicky?*
*Interesting. How about child safety?*
*Ha!*
As Millennials began reaching their teens in the late 1990s, youth volunteering and community service surged—while teen rates of drinking, smoking, and violent crime declined steeply.
Nope. I have tried. But I can’t think of anything sensible to say. However, onwards and upwards.
But there appears to be a Ginger Kitten going begging. It is almost certainly wild. About six weeks old. What shall I do?

Too many dead cats over the years. Killed on the road. But I can feel it creeping up on me again. I have so missed having a cat.
I can’t lock it up with a dirt tray, so perhaps it might have some sort of life, since it won’t have much of one if I leave it be.
And it is more than likely to be male, so it won’t be dropping kittens.
Nope, I don’t castrate anything anymore. Been there and done that, and it never helps them or me
Charlotte, the demented Pug might not like it, but since she is as blind as a bat then she might not even notice. And a six week old kitten is hardly threatening. In fact, she might even like it.
Anyway, I have said that I will have it, presuming that my neighbour can actually catch it. It is now in the lap of The Gods.
Charlotte, the afore mentioned blind and demented Pug only survives because I am totally incapable of having her put down while she can still find her food bowl.
I should have been preserved from animals a very long time ago.

I love cats. We always had cats when I was growing up and when I moved away from home I adopted a nervous, fluffy tailed rescue kitten, I called Pumpie, short for Pumpkin Pie. I love Poppy to pieces but I do miss having a cat.
You never know, your wild kitten might grow up to catch you a rabbit 😉

We might be getting into the realms of my first ever Cat. But I don’t want to go there. It still hurts to much, even after fifty years.
He didn’t have name because he knew who he was.
