Happy Daze of Brexit

Jumping the shark is the moment when something that was once popular that no longer warrants the attention it previously received makes an attempt at publicity, which only serves to highlight its irrelevance.’

  1. I think there may be more to “shark jumping” than just Fonzie/Happy Days and Howard Stern/irrelevance.

I seem to recall being taught that one way of avoiding the business-end of a shark was to grab and ride it, hence, “jumping the shark”. I realize that meanings morph and change, but when I think of “jumping the shark”, I think of “a last ditch effort to avoid being eaten in an already bad situation” or generally doing something that would otherwise be kinda stupid. “Hold my beer…watch this” kinds of stuff, cept maybe varying circumstance(s).
